An essential trade
Know-how that is indispensable every day, supporting comfort, hygiene and the smooth running of buildings.
The history of Amoudruz SA is closely tied to the evolution of sanitation and urban life in Geneva. As soon as water was piped into the municipalities, ways of draining it away had to be invented… and a trade was born.
01
The Amoudruz family founded the company in 1848. In its early days, the business focused on construction, at the heart of a city undergoing major transformation.

02
With water now being distributed, the lack of any way to drain it away quickly caused serious public health problems, making a drainage system essential.

03
Open gutters and settling pits marked the beginnings of drainage. Amoudruz took part in these first installations and became a pioneer in pit emptying.

For more than a century and a half, each generation has helped the trade evolve, adopting ever more effective techniques and equipment suited to real conditions in the field.
From manual labour to mechanisation
In the past, everything was done by hand with carts. Then came the first trucks and hydraulic systems, paving the way for a new level of efficiency in the field.
High pressure
The arrival of high-pressure water jetting marked a major milestone: pressurised water cleans drains thoroughly and improves their performance for the long term.
A key player in modernisation
Within the company, Claude Amoudruz (born in 1933) played a central role in mechanisation and technical progress, fitting out vehicles to meet the real needs of the trade.
